Dustship Glory graphic novel cover by dlmx-13 Dustship Glory graphic novel cover by dlmx-13
Hey Deviantart! Long time no see! I still have one or two followers here, I think...? Heh...?
This is the front cover to my recently-completed graphic novel, Dustship Glory! Dustship Glory is a graphic novel adaptation of a prose novel of the same name. It's based on the true story of a man named Tom Sukanen, a Finnish immigrant farmer who lived in Saskatchewan during the G.reat D.epression/Dustbowl of the 1930s and attempted to build a huge steamship in the middle of his wheat field, seemingly with the idea that he was going to sail it home to Finland...there are waterways in Saskatchewan that eventually lead to the Hudson Bay and then to the ocean, but said waterways are very shallow and full of rapids & sandbars, so no one really believed that he could do it. This, combined with his bad temper and lack of social skills, alienated him from his townsfolk, who thought he was crazy and also couldn't stand the fact that he was, in their eyes, wasting valuable resources and energy at a time when both morale and supplies were very low.
I've got a free 27-page preview that you can read on my website, here:…
If you like it, you can purchase a copy of the physical book from my webstore here -…
OR a digital PDF for just $4.99 from my Gumroad page here - (And just a reminder - that's $4.99 CANADIAN, which is NOTHIN'! ;) )
I have a large backlog of stuff that I may start posting on here again. Need to stop neglecting my various websites... :v

I am super poor and lacking space right now, but I bought the pdf, and will hopefully remember the book (and your other book) when circumstances change.

I meant to buy Dustship Glory as it was coming out in issue format, having loved the preview ages ago. And I'm not sure why I didn't, but it was probably a financial thing.

I am at issue 3 (assumedly, from the chapter breaks) and it's just brilliant so far, in every way. Art, pacing, all of it. I like how the flashbacks are in grayscale with less concrete panels. So I can safely say I've been missing out this whole time.
